I have been fortunate enough to job shadow 4 of the 9 stage managers of Radio City Music Hall while The Rockettes were putting on a show! Being there, wearing the radio headset to listen in on all the ques, sitting at the control desk, floating on elevators and props, and following the people who make sure it all works together was one of the most amazing experiences in my life. Radio City Music Hall is the most well-known theater in the world, and I have been lucky enough to see how they produce such an amazing show. I can not thank Mr. Vinnie Roccisano enough for giving me this opportunity!

After previously catching Parsonsfield at a private house concert in North Jersey, I fell in love with the band! Unfortunately no photos were allowed but that didn’t take away from the amazing atmosphere that was in the room when they started to play. The band falls into the category of blue-grass/folk which is one of my favorite genres so I thoroughly enjoyed the show! They also did some Christmas classics with their own folk twist which was a nice change from hearing the well-known Michael Buble. If you’re a fan of Mississippi John Hurt, Doc Watson, Elizabeth Cotten etc.,then I recommend checking them out!

About 2 years ago my best friend Molly and I went to a Hippo Campus show in Chicago. We didn’t even know who the opening band was until I heard them play their last song and realized it had been on my favorites playlist for a while! They’re music is fun and easy to listen to and they’re moving up in the music world and I hopefully will see them at some upcoming festivals

For about 5 years now, Vampire Weekend has been one of my favorite alternative bands. Their music is unlike any other. Their 3rd album blew up and also won a Grammy. Not to mention, they’ve put on some of the best shows that I’ve ever been to. Although meeting Rostam and Chris after the show wasnt all I thought it would be, it was still an amazing experience!

“I’ve travelled the world and I think you’re the shortest person I’ve met”

Last Friday I saw Joseph Arthur, an artist with a strong following of 200,00 people and over 8 million listens on his Spotify account. He is a well-known and respected artist in the music industry and plays with Pearl Jam regularly.

During his show at Drew’s it was only him an his guitar. He would make a beat by patting his guitar, then play over that and continuously add melodies through a song. I’ve never seen anything like it before!

He’s definitely a character and one of the nicest artists I’ve met so far!

Arguably one of the best songs in the category of New Folk/Alternative.

One of the best weekends of my life was on July 31st to August 2nd. My best friend and two other close friends got a hotel in downtown Chicago about a mile away from Grant Park. Not only was the environment amazing, but the lineup has been one of the best I’ve seen so far. Some of the artists that performed were Misterwives, Cold War Kids, Walk The Moon, Twenty One Pilots, Kid Cudi, Tame Impala, Of Monsters and Men, Alabama Shakes, The Weeknd, Sam Smith, Florence and the Machine, Metallica, and finally Paul McCartney. I cant wait to see what the lineup looks like for 2017!

Two years ago on November 7th my best friend Molly and I went to see Smallpools and Magic Man at the House of Blues in downtown Chicago; still one of my favorite venues. As always, Smallpools puts on an amazing show with high energy and lots of interaction and talking with the crowd.

We were also lucky enough to meet Alex from Magic Man after the show! Unfortunately Smallpools wasnt able to stay after the show so we didn’t get to see them but that’s okay because I’ve already met them twice!

Last Saturday I went to another show at Drew Eckmann’s house. A band called The Carpenter Ants were playing, and although id never heard of them, they were known as a country blues group so I thought id check them out. I was pleasantly surprised! Every single song they played I enjoyed, which is not common!

The guitarist Michael Lipton was the best guitarist ive been able to see play live! When talking to him after the show he was so humble about it and said, “there’s always someone better than me”, but he doesn’t give himself enough credit!

If you like Johnny Cash, Doc Watson, or any blues music check them out!

My love for live shows started when I went to see Two Door Cinema Club at the Rivera in downtown Chicago on October 18th in 2013. The crowd was one of the best I’ve seen! They are great at interacting with the audience and making it an experience I will never forget!
